<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering system capable of radially miniaturizing a motor unit. <P>SOLUTION: According to the electric power steering system 11, since circuit substrates 41K, 42K for driving and controlling an electric motor 72 are stored in a cylindrical housing 74 fixed at the coaxial rear end of the electric motor 72, it is possible to eliminate the overhang of an ECU 73 toward the side of the electric motor 72. That is, the motor unit 70 is miniaturized in the radial direction of the electric motor 72 in comparison with the conventional motor unit. Besides, since the motor unit 70 is arranged adjacently and in parallel with the side of a shaft housing 18 (a shaft 16 between steered wheels), a dead space formed in the side of the shaft housing 18 (the shaft 16 between the steered wheels) is effectively used as a space for arranging the motor unit 70. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
