PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an overvoltage protective circuit for a battery device which can prevent malfunction due to one point failure and can change the setting of the overvoltage protective level of a cell voltage detection circuit to flexibly change a shunt voltage. SOLUTION: The overvoltage protective circuit for a battery device comprises shunt elements 3, 4 connected between the opposite ends of a battery cell 1b for bypassing the charge current of the battery cell 1b, a cell voltage detection circuit 5 for detecting the voltage of the battery cell 1b and outputting an ON signal when the detected voltage exceeds the set overvoltage protection level, a cell voltage detection circuit 6 for outputting an ON signal when the detected voltage exceeds the set overvoltage protection level, an enable circuit 8 for outputting a drive voltage when the ON signal is input from the cell voltage detection circuit 6, and a shunt element drive circuit 7 for turning on the shunt elements 3, 4 when the ON signal is input from the cell voltage detection circuit 5 and the drive voltage is input from the enable circuit 8.
