<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight portable biopsy system equipped with a biopsy control module. <P>SOLUTION: The biopsy system includes a cutter configured to incise a tissue and a vacuum control module. This vacuum control module is separated from a biopsy device. The vacuum control module includes a vacuum pump and a vacuum canister, and is portable by a single hand. The vacuum canister and the vacuum control module respectively have complimentary ports configured to couple upon insertion of the vacuum canister into the vacuum control module. These complimentary ports provide a fluid communication between the vacuum pump in the vacuum control module and a reservoir in the vacuum canister. The biopsy device can be arranged in a fluid communication with the vacuum pump via the vacuum canister so that a user need not separately connect tubes with the vacuum canister or the vacuum pump. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
