Disclosed is a resin composition for an optical film having excellent selective permeability of polarized light. Specifically disclosed is a resin composition which can be utilized in a polarized light scattering optical member applicable to a device utilizing an optical property or a light-utilizing mechanism member having the optical member. The resin composition for an optical film is characterized by comprising: 1 to 30 wt% of at least one fibrous or columnar particle having an average shorter axis diameter of 1 to 70 nm and an average longer axis diameter of 600 nm to 5 µm; and 70 to 99 wt% of a transparent resin.
