PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recombinant microorganism having improved productivity of protein or polypeptide, and to provide a method for producing a protein or polypeptide using the above recombinant microorganism. SOLUTION: This recombinant microorganism is provided by introducing a gene encoding the objective protein or polypeptide into a microorganism strain obtained by introducing a transcription initiation-regulating region or the transcription initiation-regulating region and a ribosome-binding region having a function in the microorganism to the upstream of the genome of a Bacillus subtilis prsA gene or a gene corresponding to that gene, or introducing a gene fragment obtained by joining the transcription initiation-regulating region or the transcription initiation-regulating region and the ribosome-binding region having the function in the microorganism to the upstream of the Bacillus subtilis prsA gene or a gene corresponding to that gene, and also deleting or inactivating one or more genes selected from abrB gene, dltA gene, dltB gene and dltC gene, dltD gene, dltE gene and a gene corresponding to the above genes.
