A gearbox, especially for a hand power drill or hammer drill, has at least two gear wheels on the motor shaft to selectively engaging with one of two gear wheels on the output shaft by axial displacement. The input drive gears are linked by inner and outer profiles, e.g. splines to enable axial displacement. For a third speed setting a third driving gear wheel is linked to the first via inner and outer profiles.
