PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus which enables stably continuing printing and maintains print quality of a character even when there leaves less coloring material of black and frequency of printing a character in black is high. SOLUTION: When printing the character in black, the contour area of the character is printed in black with black toner, and the inside of the contour area of the character is printed in black by mixing magenta toner, cyan toner and yellow toner.
