PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard disk drive and a method for optimizing a recording parameter of a hard disk drive. SOLUTION: A disk 10 stores data, and a thermistor 60 measures the disk circumferential temperature. A controller 80 is connected with the thermistor 60 and selects one parameter of optimization object from parameters related to recording on the disk 10, and records optional data on a test track to acquire first bit error rate. The optional data are recorded on at least one track adjacent to the test track repetitively by an adjacent track recording frequency obtained based on the disk circumferential temperature measured by the thermistor 60 to acquire a second bit error rate. The controller 80 sets the value of a selected parameter in which the difference between the second bit error rate and the first bit error rate is smaller than a given critical value as an optimized value of the selected parameter in the zone to which the text track belongs.
