The load-bearing metal component (16) forming a linkage in the scissor-mechanism, is first cut and processed as a blank (14), from sheet metal (10), using a laser unit (12). The blank is formed into the final shape of at least one element (20) of the load-bearing component (16). This forming operation, folds edges of the blank in a bending press. The metal component is assembled from at least two elements. They are made from flat material with differing material properties. Their strength differs. They are connected together. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the lifting platform so produced.
