PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material feeding device without the possibility of generation of unpleasant collision sound when a sheet material loading member abuts on a sheet material feeding means by providing a mechanism for preventing a bottom plate from being elevated except when the sheet material is set to the bottom plate, and an image forming device mounted with the sheet material feeding device. SOLUTION: In this sheet material feeding device, a sheet material loading base capable of storing a plurality of sheets of transfer sheet materials is made to stand by at a lower position when setting the sheet materials. The sheet material feeding device is provided with stand-by means 18, 19 and 20 for making the bottom plate 14 to be the sheet material loading base stand by at the lower position. The sheet material feeding device further has control means 21, 22 and 23 which release lower stand-by of the bottom plate 14 only the first time when feeding the sheet materials, are subsequently in pressed states on a feeding roller 16, and are made to stand by at a lower position when no sheet materials are loaded.
