PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to apply an adhesive which permits the adhesive to be applied in a complicated pattern and a method to manufacture an absorbent article using the adhesive application method. SOLUTION: The adhesive application method to form an adhesion area P made up of an application portion 12 of the adhesive B and a nonapplication portion 16 to which the adhesive B is not applied on one side 2a' of a foundation 2', applies the adhesive B to the entire surface of an area P' scheduled to form an adhesive area where the adhesion area P is formed in the one side 2a' after a release agent E is applied to a portion 16' scheduled to form the nonapplication portion where the nonapplication portion 16 is formed in the one side 2a' of the foundation 2' during a transit, and subsequently removes the adhesive B applied to the portion 16' scheduled for the formation of the nonapplication portion.
