An up/down direction opening/closing apparatus for a slide-type phone is provided to open and close a sub body selectively in an up or down direction for a main body when the sub body is slidably coupled to the main body, thereby enabling a user to handle the portable phone. A guider(11) is formed in a partial section of both edges of a base panel(10) installed in a main body, and a rail(21) is installed in both edges of an operating panel(20) constructing a sub body so that the sub body can be coupled to the main body to slide. The guider has an introvert rail groove(11'). The rail is slidably coupled to the rail groove. A side end(32) of a first slider(30) is fixed to the base panel. The tension of a spring(31) is applied to the first slider. The other end(32') of the first slider is inserted to a long hole(23) formed in the operating panel and is supported. The operating panel is opened and closed to slide in up and down directions. A second slider(40) is installed in a side of the base panel. A guide shaft(41) installed in the front end of the second slider is inserted to a slot(24), which has a straight portion(t) and a curved portion(c) formed at a position opposite to the operating panel, to open and close the operating panel so as to slide in a lower direction.
