PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injector capable of determining fuel leakage regardless of a kind of fuel pump to be used, determining the fuel leakage not in a specific operation state, and determining the fuel leakage without receiving influence of pressure pulsation of common rail pressure. SOLUTION: The fuel leakage is determined when an actual pump force feed periodθ2 is longer than a pump force feed periodθ1 corresponding to cylinder internal pressure, by comparing the cylinder internal pressure by cylinder internal pressure sensor output with the pump force feed period. Thus, since the fuel leakage is determined by comparing the cylinder internal pressure with the pump force feed period, the fuel leakage can be determined, for example, even in a pre-stroke type fuel pump. Since the cylinder internal pressure is compared with the pump force feed period, the fuel leakage can be determined not in the specific operation state. Since the fuel leakage is not determined on the basis of the common rail pressure of causing pulsation, the fuel leakage can be determined without receiving influence of the pressure pulsation generated in a common rail.
