DIGITAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM AND PROCESSING METHOD

A digital broadcasting system and a processing method are provided to be strong again errors when transmitting supplementary data through channels. A digital broadcasting transmitting method comprises the following steps of: performing additional encoding and byte expansion of inputted enhanced data divided according to preset conditions, and outputting the enhanced data; receiving the enhanced data, grouping the data into plural continuous enhanced data packet unit, dividing the enhanced data group into plural area, and assigning the inputted enhanced data to a corresponding area according to characteristics of each area; multiplexing the enhanced data(E) within the enhanced data group and a main data(M) in a packet unit, performing interleaving and outputting the interleaved data; performing additional encoding only for the enhanced data within the enhanced data packet, and performing no additional encoding for the rest data; and performing trellis encoding of the outputted enhanced data and transmitting the data.
