PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein a longitudinal belt-like luminance unevenness is not generated in dark display. SOLUTION: In the OCB type liquid crystal display device provided with a liquid crystal panel wherein an OCB liquid crystal 12 is interposed between an array substrate 14 and a counter substrate 16, the lateral direction of a screen of the liquid crystal panel is coincident with the discharge flowing direction of molten glass at the time when at least one glass substrate which constitutes the array substrate 14 or the counter substrate 16 is manufactured.
