HYPOGLYCEMIC EXOPOLYSACCHARIDES FROM TREMELLA FUCIFORMIS MYCELLIUM AND A PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

An exopolysaccharide obtained from Tremella fuciformis mycelium is provided to lower glucose content in plasma significantly and reduce lipid in blood when administered to a type 2 diabetic mouse, thereby controlling blood sugar of a diabetic patient and improving hyperlipidemia caused by obesity. An exopolysaccharide having the anti-diabetic activity is isolated from mycelial culture broth of Tremella fuciformis and includes 87-92% of carbohydrate and 8-13% of protein, wherein main saccharides of the carbohydrate consists of 54-59% of mannose, 19-24% of xylose and 17-22% of fucose. An anti-diabetic food composition or a food composition for improving hyperlipidemia comprises the exopolysaccharide as an effective ingredient.
