<p>An image display apparatus (10) using a liquid crystal display comprises an interpolating section (11) for up-converting the screen rate, an overdrive section (12), a viewing angle improving unit (13) for converting an input video signal into a video signal expressing one gradation of the input video signal by combining the liquid crystal transmittances of temporally consecutive fields, and a source driver (15) for driving a liquid crystal display panel (16). The viewing angle improving unit (13) converts the input video signal into a video signal composed of a first field the signal value of which is set at a value corresponding to a high gradation and a second field the signal value of which is set at a value corresponding to a low gradation. The overdrive section (12) corrects the levels of the signal values of either or both of the first and second fields according to the response of the liquid crystal if the gradation of the input video signal the same space position varies with time. ® KIPO & WIPO 2008</p> |
