The invention refers to medicine, in particular to ophthalmology, and can be used for treating the senile cataract. Summary of the invention consists in that the device for treating the senile cataract consists of two metal plates of a width of 2 mm, connected between them at an angle of 135?, one of the plates with a length of 30 mm, and the second one û of 7 mm. The method of treating the senile cataract consists in that it is made an incision of conjunctiva in the limb region at the level of 10.00à14.00 oÆclock and of cornea in the same region at the level of 11.00à13.00 oÆclock, it is opened the anterior chamber, it is carried out the anterior capsulorhexis at the level of 11.00 oÆclock, it is removed the nucleus and masses of lens, it is introduced 0,3 ml of sterile air into the anterior chamber. Then it is introduced the device defined in the first claim with the smallest plate into the anterior chamber, namely onto the anterior surface of iris. Over the surface of said plate it is slipped the artificial lens and it is implanted into the anterior chamber, afterwards the device is removed, it is sutured the cornea and conjunctiva, it is administered in the subconjunctival space a steroid preparation, an antibiotic and it is applied a monocular aseptic dressing.
