Disclosed is the use of a glycosaminoglycan fraction having an average molecular weight of 2400 (+/-200) D obtained by depolymerisation of a glycosaminoglycan selected from the group consisting of heparin and heparin sulphate for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of emotional dysfunctions selected from the group consisting of depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, anxiety neurosis, agitation and confusion.
