A method of cutting a natural stone (32) to form a natural stone veneer component with a perimeter of predetermined contour is disclosed. The cutting head (28) of an abrasive waterjet machine (20) is positioned between 0.3 and 4 inches from a contact surface of the stone. The stone is cut using a waterjet (30) pressure of between 18,000 psi to 80,000 psi with the head being directed in a predetermined path.
