A backlight inverter is provided to improve space utilization in arranging elements and designing patterns and to slim a backlight unit by not using an insulating transformer on a substrate. A backlight inverter includes a step-up transformer and pattern inductors(321,323). The step-up transformer supplies a driving current to input stages of a plurality of lamps. The pattern inductors have inductance components by forming PCB(Printed Circuit Board) patterns of output stages of the lamps on a substrate to cross each other. The substrate is a double-sided substrate. The pattern inductors are spaced from each other and are alternately formed through a top-bottom layer of the substrate to be inclined in the same direction.
