<p>The device (10) has a data processing device with several processing levels (12, 14), where the data processing device is designed for safe evaluation of sensor data of a monitoring area. Two test modules (20, 22) are provided for processing levels, where the test modules are designed for function test. The test modules add on a test pattern to a data stream before the processing levels to be tested, and compare the processed test pattern after the processing levels with a desired result. The test modules evaluate the correctness of the evaluation based on the comparison. An independent claim is also included for a safety method for monitoring a safety area with a sensor.</p> |
