The panel has an inner layer (18) to receive a cover (8) of a housing (6) of an airbag, and provided with longitudinal cut sheets (30, 32) that are split off while opening the cover. A finish layer (2) covers the inner layer, and includes a single longitudinal seam (28) for fixing two parts (24, 26) of the finish layer with each other. The seam is partially fusible such that the seam is split off during deployment of the airbag. The cover is moved between a closing position of the housing and an opening position, where the airbag is deployed in a passenger compartment of a vehicle.
