Systems and methods for improving livestock production

A computer-assisted method for improving livestock animal production using a computer system comprising a programmed computer comprising a processor, a data storage system, an input device and an output device is disclosed. The method comprises: (a) inputting into the programmed computer through the input device data comprising a genotype of animals; (b) correlating a physical characteristic predicted by the genotype using the processor and the data storage system; (c) outputting to the output device the physical characteristic correlated to the genotype; (d) segregating the like-genotype animals into groups; (e) feeding the animal groups a diet based upon the physical characteristic predicted by the genotype, thereby improving to improve livestock production through diet; (f) predicting a slaughtering schedule based upon the physical characteristic predicted by the genotype to reduce the time an animal spends on a feed lot, thereby reducing the costs of associated with feeding the animals; (g) slaughtering the animals according to the slaughtering schedule; and (h) profiting from the carcass and/or meat of the animals. The profit from said carcass and/or meat is greater than the profit gained from carcass and/or meat without the use of the computer-assisted method for improving livestock production.
