A message reception display method using icons and a terminal therefor are provided to display information on the number of messages and types of unread messages as icons by analyzing the received messages, so that a user can recognize easily how many messages or what kinds of messages are received. A message reception display terminal receives messages(S202). A controller of the terminal analyzes message information through a message processor for the received messages(S204). If the received messages are MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service) messages(S206), the controller decides whether plural unread MMS messages exist(S208). If so, the controller displays MMS icons on a display unit in plural(S210). |
