PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user, who needs an identifier as information regarding image data to be inputted or outputted or a job to be executed, to easily handle it. SOLUTION: A main control part 1 of an MFP 100 selects an output destination of an identifier by a command from an operation part 9 and outputs (prints or transmits) the identifier to the output destination by a plotter part 5, a network control part 6 or a modem part 7. Namely, when the output destination of the selected identifier is image data to be outputted, the identifier is embedded into the image data to be outputted. When the output destination of the selected identifier is external equipment, the identifier is transmitted to the external equipment. On that occasion, it is desirable to simultaneously transmit a part of the image data or thumbnails. The image data are stored in a memory part 2. The identifier corresponding to the image data is transmitted to the external equipment. Then, when the image data in the memory part 2 are updated, it is desirable to notify the external equipment, being the transmission destination of the identifier, of update information showing that the image data are updated.
