PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording position adjusting method which can perform dot adjusting value acquisition processing corresponding to various user needs in recent years and a recording system which can executed the adjusting method.

SOLUTION: The system is configured so that a plurality of kinds of dot adjusting value acquisition processing which can acquire adjusting values for matching recording positions are prepared, and one of the suitable dot adjusting value acquisition processing can be selected from among various kinds of dot adjusting value acquisition processing according to the kind of an applied recording medium. Thereby, a user can suitably perform the highly-precise dot adjusting value acquisition processing corresponding to a desired high quality of image.
