WAVELENGTH CONVERTER AND TWO-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE DISPLAY UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength converter by which a W-class high-output green laser beam is stably obtained, and also to provide a two-dimensional image display unit using the wavelength converter.

SOLUTION: A direction of polarization of a laser light source which generates excitation light, and a direction of polarization of light emitted from an oscillator are caused to intersect perpendicularly, and deterioration of an excitation light source by an ASE is suppressed by a polarization splitting element provided between a laser resonator and the laser light source.
