PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which permits the high-speed rising with respect to the fixing device for an image forming apparatus and can achieve low heat capacity (low-density) and high thermal conductivity to a fixing member made of a heat-resistant rubber material. SOLUTION: The fixing device for the image forming apparatus includes a fixing roller incorporating a heat source and a rotation member in pressurized contact with the fixing roller, transfers a recording medium carrying toner to a pressurized nip part composed of the fixing roller and the rotation member, and fixes the toner onto the recording medium to form an image. The fixing roller has the heat source on the central part, a core and an elastic member. The elastic member includes acicular first thermal conductors in a matrix phase and further contains air bubbles, wherein the surroundings of the air bubbles are covered with second thermal conductors.
