PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printer having a cutting mechanism with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This tape printer 1 has the cutting mechanism 50 for cutting a printing tape T in the width direction in order to obtain a tape piece T1 from the printed printing tape T. The cutting mechanism 50 comprises a cutting blade 500 having a blade edge 501 which is adapted to cut the printing tape T1 such that the printing tape T is pressed against the blade edge 501. The cutting mechanism 50 further comprises a cutting blade fixing section 510 for fixing the cutting blade 500. The cutting blade 500 is detachably provided to a portion of a device body 2 in the vicinity of the external face thereof at the downstream side in the tape conveyance direction which is one that the printed printing tape T is conveyed by the cutting blade fixing section 510.
