PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roof rail mounting structure capable of suppressing local deformation of a roof part of a vehicle by a leg part of a roof rail when the vehicle is upset. SOLUTION: In the roof rail mounting structure, when the load applied to a roof rail 32 is equal to or larger than a predetermined value when a vehicle is upset, an extension part 50 of a roof rack rail 34 is broken with a brittle part 66 as a starting point. Thus, the extension part 50 and the roof rail 32 mounted thereon can be dropped from a seat part 36 of the roof rack rail 34, and only the seat part 36 side of the roof rack rail 34 remains on a roof part 12 of an automobile 10. Thus, local deformation of the roof part 12 by the roof rack rail 34 by the load applied to the roof rail 32 can be suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
