<p>A compact container has a container body for receiving cosmetics etc., a lid for opening and closing the upper face of the container body, a pair of a first hinge piece and a second hinge piece formed on either of the container body and the lid, a hinge block formed on the other of the container body and the lid and placed between the first and second hinge pieces, and a hinge pin inserted across the hinge block and the hinge pieces and rotatably connecting the lid to the container body. A torsion spring for urging the lid in the opening direction is provided on the first hinge piece side. A fitting projection is formed on either of the second hinge piece and the hinge block facing the second hinge piece, and a fitting depression is formed on the other. A friction material for braking rotation of the lid is provided in the fitting depression. A braking projection is provided on either the outer peripheral surface of the fitting projection and the inner peripheral surface of the fitting depression, and the braking projection is in sliding contact with the other to brake rotation of the lid in the opening direction. A recessed peripheral surface section for freeing the braking projection from the sliding contact is formed between the outer peripheral surface of the fitting projection and the inner peripheral surface of the fitting depression.</p> |
