A method and a server for servicing image file conversion based on positions are provided to display photos or motion pictures, which are obtained in user terminals without embedding a GPS(Global Positioning System) module or in a GPS shadow area, on a web map by providing image files having position information. A method for servicing file conversion includes a reception unit(210), a file information distributing unit(220), a position parameter converting unit(240), and a new file generating unit(250). The reception unit receives image files without including position information from user terminals. The file information distributing unit extracts and sorts a photographing time and a terminal ID(Identification) information included in the image files. The position parameter converting unit obtains ID information of a first base station using the time information and the terminal ID information, recognizes specific POI(Point Of Interest) in cell regions of the base station using the base station ID information, and recognizes position coordinates matched with the specific POI. The new file generating unit generates position based image files by including the recognized position coordinates in the image files. |
