PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress effectively deformation of a negative electrode plate and detachment of the negative electrode active material from the electrode plate to improve cycle characteristics.

SOLUTION: The negative electrode current collector 10 for lithium secondary battery is provided with a conductive substrate 1 and a conductive layer 2 installed at least at a part of the surface of the conductive substrate 1. The conductive layer 2 is formed of a material containing mainly a metal compound which does not react with lithium, and has a thickness of 1 μm or more and 10 μm or less.
