PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft for a steering device which is capable of enhancing the buckling strength and the vibration rigidity on a steering wheel fixing side, unnecessary for controlling the wall thickness, and manufactured at low cost. SOLUTION: A solid core 37 formed of a metallic material is embedded in a cavity part 30a1 on one end side 30a of a shaft 30 for a steering device. The diameter of the core 37 is large at the cavity part 30a1 at the position where a bearing holding face 34 of one end side 30a is formed, and gradually reduced to the cavity part 30a1 at the position where a male spline 33 is formed. The core is embedded with the smallest outside diameter at the cavity part 30a1 at the position where a male screw 32 is formed.
