PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetic nanoparticles having good stability in water and in electrolytic aqueous solutions such as blood, and highly safe, to provide imaging agents containing the magnetic nanoparticles, and to provide thermotherapy formulations having high thermotherapy effect. SOLUTION: The magnetic nanoparticles contain an iron alloy, have a mean particle size of not less than 1 nm and not more than 5 nm and a coercivity of not less than 0.1 KA/m and not greater than 16 KA/m.
