<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a start-up operability while preventing a fuel cell from freezing on initiation below a freezing point. <P>SOLUTION: A separator is disposed on the side of a first electrode where water is generated in a power-generating reaction, opposite to the side in contact with an electrolyte. The separator has a reactive-agent passage to pass through a reactive agent and formed on a side opposite to the first electrode; and a cooling-medium passage to pass through a cooling medium and formed on the side opposite to that of the reactive-agent passage, as partitioned at least in two regions of a first region in an upstream side to the reactive-agent passage and a second region in a downstream side to the first region. The fuel cell system is controlled so that a cooling medium in the cooling-medium passage of the first region is supplied more than that in the cooling-medium passage of the second region, when it is operated below the freezing point. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
