The drum has a helical guiding groove in its cylindrical upper surface, and a plastic coating on the upper surface based on a polyurea connection. The plastic coating is comprised of two component resin/catalyst system, where resin and catalyst are applied in heating spray coating procedure during temperatures between 60 to 90 degrees centigrade in layers. A thickness of the plastic coating amounts to 2 to 5 millimeters. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a wear protection of a winch drum.
