<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device, lighting device, monitoring device and an image display device with long-term reliability secured and achieving higher efficiency in a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The light source device 4 includes a light source 10 irradiating light, and a base plate 14 equipped with at least one concave part 16 for the light source 10 to be loaded on so that at least a part of the light source 10 enters inside the concave part 10.
