PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oligosaccharide powdery composition easily taken orally by a human and an animal. SOLUTION: This preparation for oral administration is provided by mixing an acidic xylo-oligosaccharide having an uronic acid residue in a xylo-oligosaccharide molecule with dextrin by (1:10) to (10:1) range mass ratio. The acidic xylo-oligosaccharide is "preferably prepared by obtaining a complex material of the xylo-oligosaccharide component and a lignin component by enzymatically or physicochemically treating a lignocellulose material, then obtaining a xylo-oligosaccharide mixture by acidolysis-treating the complex material, and from the obtained xylo-oligosaccharide powder, decomposing to obtain the xylo-oligosaccharide having at least≥1 uronic acid residue in one molecule as a side chain", and the uronic acid is preferably glucronic acid or 4-O-methylglucronic acid.
