Production of hydrophobized articles (I), in the form of shaped articles, granules or compacted products, involves (a) hydrophobically finishing a cellulosic material (II) using a sizing agent (II) and (b) shaping the product without addition of binders. An independent claim is included for the hydrophobized articles (I) obtained by the process.
