The present invention relates to absorbent articles that comprise high ba rrier sheets that comprise an ink composition that is applied in aqueous for m, typically (substantially) free of organic solvents, and processes for mak ing such articles. The sheets are typically used as or part of a cuff, such as an anal and/ or genital cuff (also referred to as topsheet with opening o r openings) or leg cuff or barrier cuff, used in for example diapers. The wa ter-based ink comprises typically surfactant and a specific water-based film -forming polymer solution or dispersion.
