PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a working efficiency for attaching a boot to a mating member by solving problem in conventional boots wherein a large load is required when a part to be attached is forcibly fitted to the end of a boot and a troublesome operation called a caulking is required after the part to be attached of a mating member is fitted to the end of the boot. SOLUTION: A backup ring 3 is temporarily set to the small-diameter tube part (boot end part) 10 of the boot 1 with a ring beforehand. The small-diameter tube part 10 comprises a fitting projection 11 fitted to the fitting groove 24 of the part 21 to be attached in the attached state, a ring holding groove 12 for holding the backup ring 3 in the attached state, a ring temporary set groove 13 for temporarily setting and holding the backup ring 3 at a temporary fixing position apart a predetermined distance from the ring holding groove 12 to the axial other end, and first and second seal parts 14, 15 sealingly press-fitted against the outer peripheral surface of the part 21 to be attached in the attached state. The backup ring 3 allows the fitting of the fitting projection 11 to the fitting groove 24 due to the elastic deformation of the small-diameter tube part 20 when the part 21 to be attached is fitted to the small-diameter tube part 10 in the temporarily set state, and restrains the disengagement of the fitting projection 11 from the fitting groove 24 since the part to be attached is forcibly moved to the axial one end and held in the ring holding groove 12.
