PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crankshaft supporting structure for preventing seizure or increased friction without causing the run-out of an oil film due to the occurrence of a level difference in a shaft hole by limiting the direction of the level difference which occurs between both sides of the mating face of the shaft hole due to a thermal expansion difference between a cylinder block and a crank cap during actual operation of an engine, to the rotating direction of a crankshaft where wedge film effects are produced. SOLUTION: The crankshaft supporting structure comprises a main bearing part 1 formed on the cylinder block, the crank cap 2 having a smaller thermal expansion coefficient than the cylinder block, and a fastening bolt 3. A fastening face 5 is inclined to the fastening direction of the fastening bolt 3 to rise to the rotating direction (the left side) of the crankshaft 10 in the axial view of the crankshaft 10 with one of the cylinder block and the crank cap 2, having a greater thermal expansion coefficient, located on the upper side. A positioning face 20 is provided for restricting the movement of the crank cap 2 along the fastening face 5 with the fastening of the fastening bolt 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
