An optical apparatus and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) adopting the same are provided to produce a large-sized reflection polarizer or a large-sized optical shutter in a mass at a low cost. An optical apparatus(20) comprises a magnetic material layer(22), wherein the magnetic material layer has a transparent insulation material and magnetic particles or magnetic polymers distributed within the transparent insulation material. If the magnetic material layer is magnetized in a first direction, the magnetic material layer reflects a light having a magnetic field component parallel with the first direction and transmits a light having a magnetic field component vertical to the first direction. The magnetic material layer is formed such that the magnetic particles are distributed without agglomeration within the transparent insulation material. When a magnetic field is applied to the magnetic material layer, the magnetic material layer is magnetized in the first direction and continuously magnetized in the first direction even after the magnetic field is removed.
