PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner that prevents an increase in power of a compressor caused by oil discharged from the compressor together with a refrigerant and enables improvement of energy saving performance.SOLUTION: An air conditioner includes: a compressor 2 filled with oil and compressing a refrigerant; and an oil separator 3 for separating oil from a refrigerant-oil mixture discharged from the compressor 2. The compressor 2 includes an oil reservoir portion 20 for storing oil. The oil separator 3 includes: an inlet 26 to which the mixture flows in from the compressor 2; an oil outlet 28 from which the separated oil flows out; and a refrigerant outlet 27 from which the refrigerant flows out. The oil outlet 28 of the oil separator 3 and the compressor 2 are connected to each other by oil return piping 35. The inlet 26 of the oil separator 3 is located at a position higher than an oil level 21 of the oil stored in the oil reservoir portion 20. The oil return piping 35 is connected to the compressor 2 at a position lower than the oil level 21 of the oil stored in the oil reservoir portion 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
