A mobile communication terminal and a photographing method in accordance with a position of the terminal are provided to take an image of the same type as a preview image displayed on an overall screen of a display unit, and to take a picture of an object by determining a camera mode suited for the screen according to a position of a terminal. A camera mode of a camera is executed(S31). A controller decides on a position of a display unit(S32), and determines the camera mode according to the position of the display unit(S33). The controller decides whether a key inputting action for changing a photographing condition exists(S34). If so, the controller changes the photographing condition according to a selection signal(S35). The camera takes a picture of an object according to the determined camera mode and photographing condition(S36).
