An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to form protrusions for aligning liquid crystal molecules with an organic material containing black pigment, thereby improving the viewing angle of the LCD even without performing an additive process. A plurality of thin film transistors are formed at crossing regions of gate lines and data line(171a,171b) on an insulating substrate. A passivation layer is formed on the resultant substrate. Color filters are formed on the passivation layer. Protrusions(71a,71b,72a,72b,73) and a light-blocking member(220) are formed on the color filters. The protrusions and the light-blocking member are formed of an organic material containing black pigment. Lateral surfaces of the protrusion and the light-blocking member are gently sloped with respect to a plane of the insulating substrate. The protrusions and the light-blocking member are formed of the same material, and simultaneously formed through a single mask process. A capping layer is formed on the protrusions and the light-blocking member to prevent the black pigment contained in the protrusions from contaminating a layer above the protrusions. |
