Method and device for isolating flat objects

The device has a sliding plate-drive for movement of a sliding plate (7), and a control unit controlling a drive of conveyor and pull-off belts (11, 15). The belts and a support belt (2) are fastened to the sliding plate. The sliding plate is movably arranged in such a manner that a movement of the sliding plate causes changing of a distance between the belts. The control unit controls the sliding plate-drive in such a manner that the plate is moved to increase the distance. The control unit shifts the device in a separating mode and the starts the drive of the belts. An independent claim is also included for a method of separating flat objects e.g. post letters.
