A ceiling type unit cooler having a shutter for defrosting is provided to prevent the generation of frost when a unit cooler is driven again by preventing steam generated from the unit cooler from being deposited on a ceiling. A ceiling type unit cooler having a shutter for defrosting comprises a heater and a shutter. The heater is provided in a body having a fan at one side thereof and an evaporator(12) at the other side thereof. The shutter includes fastening members(21,22), a rotating shaft(23), a screen and a guard plate(25). The fastening members are provided at both sides of the upper portion of one side of the body. The rotating shaft is connected with the fastening members. The screen is rolled around the rotating shaft. The guard plate covers the rotating shaft and the screen. A motor(30) is connected with the rotating shaft of the shutter. A controller controls the motor.
